Why run?

Because Taxes are Too high, Unlike his opponent Tom put HIS life on the line, and Tom is the most qualified.

"I'm running to make a positive difference in our community by bringing fresh ideas, leadership, and a commitment to addressing the issues that matter most to our residents.".

1. We pay too much for taxes!

How do you know that? Easy look at how it is an election year and how the Board magically reduced taxes this year. The Homestead Exemption should have been increased to 5% last year, 10% this year, and 15% the year after, and finally to the max 20% following. I created the Strategic Plan for The Woodlands that the Board seems to have been following with the exception that they only reduced the Homestead Exemption to 3% last year.

If the Preserve the Woodlands dominated board didn't do it last year, when they get their new person on the board do you think they will do any differently or that Cyndi Heiser will just go along with whatever Ann (current Chair) tells her to? I know that answer....do you?

You know, YOU CAN VOTE FOR WHO YOU WANT TO? Send a signal that you want your taxes down by hitting that vote button for me.

Woodlands Voters be Warned!!! An old & new way to do politics.

2. Speaking of trust, one important reason for my running is to let voters know how this really works.

Something I found quite disturbing, and I don't want to go negative, but I think it is important to point out is the attached literature being pushed by The Woodlands Firefighters Association.

We should acknowledge that plenty of firefighters privately vote how they want to and this association only presents a front to say they represent the (as in all) firefighters - they don't. Tom has firefighters who vote for him.

Their literature implies that you should vote for these people we have endorsed. We have endorsed the candidates who are most committed to safety. However, THIS is a lie. What the public believes when they see this propaganda is that if you want to be safe, and who doesn't, you will want to support these people. But let's keep our emotions in check for just a minute as we review the FACTS.

Unlike all of the candidates "I actually put MY own life on the line" as a soldier in the US Army and as a representative of the Governor at the SC Emergency Management Division. This political advertising is disingenuous and I call out any organization or person who engages in this behavior. Show these types of Political Action Committees that you don't buy what they're selling.

No one supports the actual safety of the public more than Tom Chumbley. And none of the other candidates have shown the dedication he has by putting their own lives on the line. Let's get that straight!

Did you know that although one can be sued for defamation, libel, and slander - not so much when it involves politics? This was done to ensure freedom of speech. In the beginning, one might have been hesitant to spread lies because a respectable man would challenge another to a duel that might not be healthy for the participant. Today, lying is just another part of politics. Well, I'm here to change that nonsense. Anything I tell you in terms of public policy positions is platinum.

This is why I can afford to be with TX Patriots pac on low taxes and removing unneeded items from the budget in the past, with Preserve The Woodlands pac on incorporation. This is also why neither one has supported Tom in the past. Because Tom doesn't represent anyone's limited, narrow, or private interests. He is am about being completely correct (defined as in the public interest concept) on EVERY issue, transparent as to public policy and the information provided to voters on the issues so you have the information you need to make decisions rather than politicians who tell you what you want to hear so you will vote the way they want you to.

Over time people will understand this about Dr. Tom Chumbley and he will become the most trusted voice in The Woodlands politics. People will begin to understand how they are lied to or what information was conveniently left out. Two lies you'll get in every election.

Texas Patriot pac literature proponents will tell you that who they select is the conservative or "the Republican" candidate, but won't tell you that someone they didn't select is more conservative in approach on issues and that the actual Republican party does not promote any candidates for local non-partisan elections. In comparison, their candidates are more conservative than Preserve The Woodlands but not for all candidates on the ballot.

Preserve The Woodlands candidates will say they are Republican but very often Preserve The Woodlands puts up candidates that are, in fact, Democrats but they will not advertise that fact. Another thing about Preserve The Woodlands is that they are very close to Howard Hughes Corporation. HHC, as the development company, has plans for The Woodlands but these plans may differ from what the residents will want. With Preserve The Woodlands dominating on the Board you may expect the greenlighting of some liberal agendas and the profit motive of HHC with only some perceived but no real resistance.

I have seen with my own eyes and heard with my own ears lies from both sides. No one rises as more virtuous than another despite attempts to make it look that way. Generally, whoever gets the nomination for one of those two primary pacs, gets the support of the other pacs, and wins. This is a bit of an oversimplification of how it works, but generally true. For more details as to how this works go to the "vision" page of this site.

Tom is a representative of "the people" not any limited, private or narrow interest. The phone number on the "get involved" page is Dr. Chumbley's personal cell phone so he can actually represent you and you can actually contact him directly. What a concept, your representative, actually representing you [as an individual and in consideration with the other individuals he must also represent - but no political action committee]!

3. Tom is the most qualified to have ever run for The Woodlands Township.

Service to this community is nothing new and Tom has been preparing himself for this role ever since the age of 7. Tom has done much volunteer work behind the scenes without fanfare or recognition and feels it is a calling. Tom suggests being objective rather than emotional about voting by lining up our qualifications next to one another to see who really has the best qualifications.

Like this: Education - PhD is the highest level of education that can be attained. It is higher than a J.D., M.D. or an Ed.D [like Ann Snyder's in Curriculum and Instruction]. Compare to this to my two opponents for position #7 and you will see I am more qualified. Now keep going...look at every pertinent area to this position: pragmatic experience, knowledge, abilities, skills. And when you are done this is a "no contest". If you exhaust my "About Tom" page just ask me for more, I can provide it. Even people who have been on the board for years might say "I have more time on the board than Tom" then I will point out what they could have done better and I say something like "bad experience is not better experience". Explain how any one item pertains to the function of a board member and how someone else is more qualified. IF you can on any one item, chances are I'm not running against that person.

Tom is sure this is something his opponent's campaigns will avoid to not bring attention to it. They might rather focus on something, which is not a qualifier. Cyndi Hieser has a PAC with a whole marketing arm, and a political consultant charged with designing her campaign to hit your emotional buttons to get you to vote for her. But The Woodlands is among the most educated zip codes, I believe you won't fall for it. We don't need another Preserve the Woodlands person when 6 out of 7 seats are already dominated by them. Bring some balance to the Force, Luke or Leigh, and use the power of your vote to tilt the Board to YOUR favor - instead of the narrow interests of a Political Action Committee whose interests you probably aren't aligned with.

I am about doing the right thing on every vote, on every issue. Tom doesn't need a political action committee to tell him how to vote. Tom tell's PACs quite explicitly that his vote is not bought. And surprise, surprise, no PAC has ever donated to his campaign or provided support. Funny how that works! Show them all what you want by your vote, and that is what you'll get in the end. Instead of the next shiny object held up by a PAC, choose the most qualified, get the most qualified.
